WHAT IS RISGUARDI?
Risguardi (“endpapers”) refers to the blank pages at the beginning of a volume, as well to a ri-sguardo or re-look: turning the page for a fresh glance at foreign publishing with the aim of presenting a showcase of authors and works worthy of being introduced and published in Italy. Risguardi is not a literary agency and does not entail commissions of any kind on contracts between author and publisher.
Risguardi stems from the awareness that new technologies, while offering many writers also the opportunity to self-publish their work, have only in part facilitated the promotional aspects essential for ensuring a work’s distribution and circulation. Risguardi intends to address this need by fostering contact between authors, publishers and readers through a gallery of samples of foreign works, translated into Italian, which exemplify the nature of the text and the author’s style. A promotional activity that, as the project’s administrators see it, is not limited only to writers, but extends to all organizations and foreign publishers interested in marketing their efforts in Italy.
WHO IS RISGUARDI’S INTENDED AUDIENCE?
Authors and foreign publishers interested in promoting their work to the Italian public. Italian publishers interested in new foreign authors and innovative editorial scouting that does not follow traditional channels.
